Have you ever wondered what life would be like without wearing glasses or contacts? Natural near-perfect sight is possible with LASIK. LASIK (Laser Assisted Intrastromal Keratomileusis) improves vision problems by reshaping the cornea, correcting the eye's focusing element. The laser used for LASIK was first developed in the 1970's to etch delicate computer chips. The beam is precise enough to remove tissue from the eye that is thinner than a piece of human hair without causing damage to surrounding tissue.

The Program has contracted with the Excel Eye Center for LASIK services. Excel is conveniently located and uses the latest technology, currently the VISX Star 4 with WaveScan Custom LASIK and the Active Tracker system.

Excel’s offer to individuals covered by the BYU Student Health Plan is unique. Two choices are available, for a price of $1,300 per eye, Excel will schedule your procedure at your convenience. For patients that wish to save additional money, there are a limited number of openings each month for $1,050 per eye; however, to qualify for this price, patients must be willing to have LASIK at Excel’s convenience. “Waiting list” patients receive exactly the same procedure and service; Excel is willing to offer additional savings because a full LASIK schedule makes better use of its resources.
